Massive Ribbon Horn Driver

Pre-war German ? Uses large electromagnet for ribbon driver & matching transformer (left) to connect to Amplifier.

This planar horn driver would eliminate the need for a phasing plug and provides some ideas for us experimenters.

Is it a ribbon? I don't see that mentioned anywhere. Great looking rig.

EDIT: OK, now I see. Looking further into the photos shows the ribbon. Nice driver.

I wonder if something like a Decca ribbon could be duplicated with one of these. Reinforced ribbons might even let you load it lower. I would be worried that a pure aluminum ribbon would be blown to bits if you tried crossing to it to low.

Nice driver.

Its large low-flare-rate horn looks like it would load down to below 300 hz easily. Would love to hear one of these but they are quite rare, in the hands of ultra high end collectors in Europe & Asia.

I like the look of the Madisound driver - looks like it would couple nicely into the flange of the JBL 2350 horn (I have 3 of these)(with 2" JBL coupler removed), 2350 coupling aperture is 1.4" x 4 " rectangle and horn cut-off freq is ~240hz.

Resonance of Madisound Ribbon is a nice low 400 hz. Rear cavity may also be able to be modified for even lower resonance.

For other Ideas also check out Horn Loaded Heil project in early 80's Speaker Builder magazine (this unit also went downto 300hz)
